MEMS
The “Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS)” working group brings together developers, integrators, users and enthusiasts of micromechanical actuators and sensors. The aim of the working group is to promote, consolidate and expand the network of these players and to support the communication of public trends and developments. It sees itself as representing the interests of the MEMS research and development location in the Silicon Saxony catchment area, with a focus on silicon-based, miniaturized systems. The working group shapes the framework conditions for education, talent development and the recruitment of specialists and promotes research and industry cooperation.
Silicon-based sensors have already been commercialized in numerous applications and installed billions of times in the consumer goods sector. They are therefore a widespread and important yet mostly invisible component of technical products and have a significant impact on life in society. The positive effects of MEMS include aspects such as health and well-being, targeted interaction and inclusion, resource and energy efficiency as well as climate protection. They also promote innovation, infrastructure and industry.
