INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION FOR OUR INDUSTRIES

The abbreviation “MINT” stands for the subjects of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. Our aim is to get as many children and young people as possible interested in these subjects. On the one hand, the aim is to prepare them comprehensively for the demands of an increasingly digital economy and, on the other, to encourage as many of them as possible to pursue a career in a technical field and thus to train or study in the STEM sector.

Companies can support the promotion of young talent through appropriate offers. We present some of these below – together with a cordial invitation to participate.

Silicon Saxony all-day offer “Calliope mini”

All-day programs (GTA) in elementary school offer children the opportunity to be creative according to their interests and to further develop their talents. We support the GTA program “Calliope Mini” so that children who are enthusiastic about technology are given the opportunity to learn about programming in a playful way at an early age. If every IT company in Saxony could find a person who is willing to become active at their own children’s school or a school in the neighborhood, we could offer such a GTA throughout Saxony.

Netzwerk

School cooperations

Silicon Saxony has concluded cooperation agreements with two schools to further promote networking between school education and corporate reality: the M.I.T. Gymnasium Dresden and the Martin-Andersen-Nexö-Gymnasium Dresden.

We would like to expand this network further and are always looking for interested companies. Please contact us at professionals@silicon-saxony.de

Practical insight

School internships

School internships are one of the most suitable means of career guidance. It is important that companies are willing to take on this responsibility, offer this opportunity to interested young people and visibly promote their offers on appropriate information platforms (e.g. “Schau rein”).

Committed partners in the promotion of young talent

State Association of Saxon Youth Education Centers (LJBW)

Associations, institutions and committed individuals from the field of youth education in science and technology are united in the LJBW. Accordingly, there are offers such as programming with the “Calliope mini”, the Saxon Computer Science Competition and others.
