Over the next three and a half years, the 139 apprentices will be trained in various technical and commercial professions. 127 of them will start their technical vocational training in areas such as precision optics, industrial mechanics, information technology or surface coating. Of these, ZEISS is training ten apprentices for the Hensoldt company. 12 additional apprentices will start their commercial vocational training as industrial clerks, clerks for office or digitalization management or management assistants.

ZEISS is training the 107 dual students together with its partner university, the Baden-WĂĽrttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Heidenheim, Mosbach, Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. Fifty-two young adults will complete their dual studies in various IT degree programs, 19 students in business management degree programs and 36 others in technical degree programs such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or industrial engineering.

Experience and learn many new things

When welcoming the new apprentices in Oberkochen, Udo Schlickenrieder, head of vocational training at ZEISS, congratulated the apprentices and dual students on their training and study positions. “This is a win-win situation for the Ostalb region and for training at ZEISS in Oberkochen,” said Schlickenrieder. “Many young people from the region can thus complete the training, which is far above the standard, and ZEISS is thus building its skilled workforce of the future. Through our training, we can also counteract the shortage of skilled workers in the coming years and already convey the requirements of the labor market of the future.”

Sven Hermann from the ZEISS Executive Board, representatives of the ZEISS Works Council at the Oberkochen site and Thilo Fronz, site HR manager of the Hensoldt company, also welcomed the new training cohort.

230 positions for apprenticeships and dual studies for 2024

For the next training year starting in fall 2024, ZEISS in Oberkochen is already looking for 230 apprentices and dual students. The focus in the training is primarily on the areas of precision optics, industrial mechanics and mechatronics. ZEISS is also training cooks in the gastronomy area. In the area of dual students, ZEISS is looking in particular for applicants* in the fields of business informatics, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering for the next training year.
