SMWA: The nominees for the Saxon Digital Prize 2024 have been announced

April 15, 2024. For the second time, the Saxon State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport (SMWA) will award the Saxon Digital Prize, endowed with a total of 165,000 euros, to local players with particularly innovative and interesting contributions. This year, the focus of the applications is on digital solutions in the field of raw materials and energy. An expert jury appointed by the SMWA has selected the nominees from the applications received in the categories “Economy”, “Society” and “Open Source”.

The online public voting starts today, in which places 1 to 3 will be awarded among the nominees. Until April 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., citizens can vote for their favorite via the participation portal of the Free State of Saxony. Short films and further information on the nominees and the voting process can be found on the Saxon Digital Prize website (https://www.digitales.sachsen.de/saechsischer-digitalpreis-2024-5634.html).

The winners of the Saxon Digital Prize will be announced by Minister Martin Dulig at the “forum sachsen digital 2024” digital conference on 10 June 2024 at the trade fair and event center.

Overview of the nominees for the Saxon Digital Award 2024:

Category “Economy”

  • N+P Informationssysteme GmbH: The N+P platform supports the optimization of resource use in the manufacturing and construction industry by visualizing consumption via a digital twin with real-time information.
  • TheiaX GmbH: TheiaX is a hyperspectral imaging service for the efficient, non-invasive identification and characterization of raw materials in surfaces with the help of a digital twin.
  • Tilia GmbH: 4DigiTwin steers heating networks into the future, with a digital twin of the physical heating network and the control of energy generation, the company wants to help bring the producer and consumer sides into harmony.

Category “Society”

  • City of Leipzig, Department of Strategic Cultural Policy: E-Tool Culture – supports cultural institutions on their way to greater sustainability by enabling individual measures to be derived via a guided consumption data analysis.
  • University of Leipzig: The SARDINE platform is a geoinformation system that links geodata, sensor data and text documents such as legal ordinances, thus creating an important basis for the subsequent use of lignite areas, for example.
  • Entwicklungsgesellschaft Niederschlesische Oberlausitz mbH: The 5G-Waldwächter project uses AI-supported analysis of real-time data to contribute to climate-adapted forest management, for example through the early detection of fires or pest infestations.

Category “Open Source”

  • ALASCA – Verband für betriebsfähige, offene Cloud-Infrastrukturen e. V.: Krake is an open source software for maximizing the energy efficiency of AI tasks. AI computing jobs are distributed to the computing infrastructure that can execute them most effectively and efficiently.
  • Institut für Angewandte Informatik e. V.: The Open Energy Databus offers the possibility to catalog and exchange existing data sets from the field of energy transition and also enables the evaluation of data sets via automated query tools.
  • PIKOBYTES GmbH: The Open Sensor Web is an interactive web application that integrates different environmental and infrastructure data into a digital twin and thus enables, for example, the training of different AI models.

On June 10, 2024, the digital conference “forum sachsen digital” will take place for the sixth time, this year at the Löbau Exhibition and Event Park.
