About this member

Our goal is the market success of our partners

We connect science and business

We support companies in launching internationally successful innovations for health, the environment and industry and accompany them from the feasibility study to series production. We advance companies with application-oriented research and development in microelectronics, systems engineering and mechatronics and transfer the results of basic research into applications.

To this end, we cooperate closely with universities such as the TU Ilmenau and with industrial partners and are involved in networks and competence clusters. We supervise around 30 students every year. We equip them with in-depth methodological knowledge and practical experience to launch their careers in industry and application-oriented research, thereby strengthening companies in the region.

We connect the digital with the analog world

We create innovative industrial solutions for intelligent sensor and measurement systems as well as high-precision drive systems. With application-oriented developments, we open up high-performance solutions for digitalization and miniaturization, which are the key to new applications.

For example, we are working on sensor systems for in-vitro diagnostics that enable individual, decentralized health monitoring for everyone with electronic rapid tests, and on adaptive edge AI systems to enable AI on low-consumption embedded systems in industry and to network them in real time.

We were founded in 1995 as a state-owned company of the Free State of Thuringia and an affiliated institute of Ilmenau University of Technology. We work with a team of around 90 people at our headquarters in Ilmenau and at the institute branch in Erfurt.

Products and Services:
It provides the results of preliminary, application-oriented research in the development of products microelectronic and systems technology products to small and medium-sized companies as a service.

Research activities are focussed on two main program points: microelectronics and mechatronics, which thematically are carried out in four research fields.
In the area of Mechatronics the institute concentrates on the integration of maximum-high resolution and direct drives. Based on this application-oriented research high-quality analysing devices and instruments are produced.

Circuit Technology / Electronics stands for the development of integrated circuits. Main emphasis is put on methods for the design and optimisation of analogue systems. Subject of research work are activities for the application of symbolic analysis and design concentration.

System Design investigates the integration and interconnection of complex systems by using information and communication technologies. At the realization an effective design methodology is used.

In the department Industrial Electronics and Measuring Technology the main emphases reach from the characterization of individual transistors to the test of small series of prototype typical complex systems. An essential part is the test methodology, which is focussed on various technologies of industrial electronics.
