About this member

FormFactor FRT Metrology is a manufacturer of 3D surface measurement technology for research and production. Our high-precision measuring devices are based on the SurfaceSens multi-sensor concept and are equipped with software developed in-house.

The multi-award-winning measuring systems provide (also fully automatically) information on topography, step height, roughness, layer thickness and many other parameters in a non-contact and non-destructive manner. Depending on the application, various measuring methods with point, line, area and layer thickness sensors as well as atomic force microscopy can be combined in one measuring device - the measuring ranges extend from meters to sub-nanometers. The FormFactor FRT MicroProf® has a proven track record in the semiconductor front-end, advanced packaging, MEMS, VCSEL, automotive, mechanical engineering and optics industries.

FormFactor, Inc. is a leading provider of key test and measurement technologies for the entire IC lifecycle - from characterization, modeling, reliability and design debugging to qualification and production test.

Fries Research & Technology GmbH – the art of metrology

Fries Research & Technology GmbH (FRT) offers 3D surface metrology systems for research and production.
With micro- and nanometer resolution, the award-winning measurement systems of FRT provide non-contact, non-destructive and also fully automated data about the topography, structure, step height, roughness, wear, thickness and many other parameters of customers products.
More than 500 reputable international companies from the automotive, semiconductor, MEMS, optical, photovoltaic and many other industries equip their R&D and production departments with FRT metrology systems.
FRT operates from Bergisch Gladbach, Germany and maintains subsidiaries in China, Switzerland and the United States. Additionally, FRT provides a distribution and Service network in the USA, Asia and Europe.

FRT- The Measure of Precision

FRT concentrates on worldwide fast-growing high-tech markets and the increasing miniaturization of surface structures for industry and consumer goods generates a high demand for measuring instruments.
Measurement of surface structures of such products is becoming more demanding because besides miniaturization they also are subject to functionalization. Often the powerful measuring systems have to be integrated into the current production process; they have to work in a non-destructive manner, without contact, and should be automated.

Multi Sensor Measuring System - MicroProf® 200

For this FRT offers the products and the necessary experience because every measurement problem is, depending on material and application area, different.Standardized components such as precision mechanics, control electronics and FRT´s powerful, in-house software enables cross-product cost synergies and a reduction of complexity in manufacturing. Especially, with the own FRT team of software specialists, the continually updated software is an important core competency of FRT. By the modular design structure of the measuring systems, extensions at the customers’ site are particularly simple. Considering the fact that in manufacturing technologies, innovation cycles are ever accelerating, the on site upgradable systems of FRT are extremely economical and future-proof. By using the FRT multi-sensor technology, customer’s demands can be addressed individually. They do not only allow simple sensor changes by the user but also the simultaneous use of multiple sensors in one system to combine different measurement ranges and measurement techniques.
