Dresden, Germany. The mayor of Dresden, Jan Donhauser, and the managing directors of JOYNEXT GmbH, Stavros Mitrakis and Dr. Holger Buchner, sealed the continuation of their cooperation today, September 19, 2024, and with it the extension of the naming rights for the Dresden ice rink in the Sportpark Ostra. It will continue to be called the JOYNEXT Arena. With the symbolic signature, they continue the contract that has been in place since January 2022 and would have expired in December 2024.
Donhauser: “The city administration is constantly working to increase Dresden’s attractiveness as a city worth living in and loving to live in, and to help local companies attract skilled workers. An important aspect of this is a wide range of sports activities and modern sports facilities. The city also needs the support of the regional economy. JOYNEXT GmbH assumes this regional responsibility in an exemplary manner, for which I would like to express my sincere thanks on behalf of the state capital. The extension of the naming rights is also a sign that all parties involved see this as profitable. I am even more pleased to know that we have a strong and reliable partner at our side for future challenges.

JOYNEXT Arena is an established address for sports in Dresden
Since the beginning of 2022, Dresden’s ice and ball sports center is called JOYNEXT Arena. The partnership between the state capital and the automotive electronics specialist from the west of Dresden was initially set to run for three years. Since then, the fans of the Dresden Ice Lions, the more than 115,000 visitors to the public ice rink each year, and the athletes and guests of the sports and leisure center have been saying: “Let’s go to the JOYNEXT Arena!”
In June 2022, the two logos were unveiled to the public at the front of the rink, making the name clearly visible from afar. After a good two and a half years, the name was well received from the start, with organizers, clubs, users and visitors alike quickly accepting and using the new terminology. All advertising media flanking the name in and around the building also create a first-class perception when visiting the hall. The name JOYNEXT Arena has established itself in the media and is one hundred percent associated with the ice rink in the Sportpark Ostra.
About the JOYNEXT Arena
Following the flood damage to the old ice rink in 2002, the JOYNEXT Arena was built between 2005 and 2007 as a modern ice and ball sports center. Among other things, it comprises three ice rinks and a nine-court ball rink. The JOYNEXT Arena is the home and training venue of the DEL2 team Dresdner Eislöwen, the national center for short track and the location of several Dresden (ice) sports clubs in competitive, popular and competitive sports. Concerts, sporting events and public ice skating also take place in the arena and on the adjacent speed skating rink. The JOYNEXT Arena attracts around 550,000 athletes and visitors every year, making the sports venue highly visible to the public. The JOYNEXT Arena reaches a national and international audience through the Eislöwen’s match operations, national and international ice sports events and competitions such as the ISU European Short Track Championships or the ISU DresdenCup in synchronized figure skating. Additional events such as company celebrations and training courses held in the JOYNEXT Arena also increased awareness of the property and raise the profile of the automotive electronics group JOYNEXT.
