“The completion of this acquisition is an important milestone for our AI Power business and our innovation activities in India,” says Adam White, President of Infineon’s Power Systems Division. “C2i Semiconductors possesses exceptional expertise in software-defined power management and power supply system architectures, backed by a highly experienced development team. By combining these capabilities with Infineon’s semiconductor technologies, application know-how, manufacturing expertise, and global customer reach, we will accelerate innovation in power supply solutions for AI data centers and create significant value for our customers. I am very pleased to welcome the C2i team to Infineon.”
Software-defined power solutions combine advanced power semiconductors with intelligent digital control and software algorithms to optimize power conversion, voltage regulation, and system performance in real time. As increasingly powerful AI processors impose highly dynamic and rapidly changing demands on the power supply, power supply systems must respond more quickly and precisely to sudden load fluctuations. At the same time, they must ensure efficiency and system stability. By integrating intelligence into the power supply architecture, software-defined solutions help improve efficiency, reduce power losses, and meet the increasing power density requirements of next-generation AI processors.
The acquisition combines C2i Semiconductors’ expertise in digital power with Infineon’s global presence, application know-how, and broad portfolio of power semiconductors, including silicon, silicon carbide (SiC), and gallium nitride (GaN) technologies, as well as solutions for vertical power delivery. Together, the teams will accelerate the development of smarter, more efficient, and scalable power supply solutions for AI infrastructures, including future Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators (SIVR).
C2i Semiconductors expands Infineon’s capabilities with expertise in software-defined power management, multiphase controllers, intelligent power stages, digital control technologies, and power supply system architectures. This combination strengthens Infineon’s capabilities along the entire power path—from the grid to the processor—and supports the development of next-generation power supply solutions for AI servers and high-performance computing platforms.
The acquisition also expands Infineon’s global R&D network with highly specialized expertise and further strengthens the company’s innovation capabilities in India. The combined team will help further strengthen Bengaluru’s role as a key innovation hub for digital power technologies and accelerate the development of next-generation power supply solutions for AI infrastructures. Infineon currently employs approximately 2,800 people at multiple locations in India.
