IC Design
IC design refers to the process of developing integrated circuits (ICs) used in a variety of electronic devices such as smartphones, computers, automobiles, and medical devices. It the basis for the production of microchips, which are indispensable in modern technology. IC development requires a deep understanding of electronics, semiconductor technology, and the physical properties of materials.
Design Initiative Microelectronics of the BMBF
The goal of the Microelectronics Design Initiative is to work with all relevant stakeholders to drive innovative solutions for novel chip designs. This not only strengthens the strong network and the excellent design competence, but also the innovation and competitiveness of Germany and Europe.
Change The World – Edition 2025
To get young people interested in chip design, 15 Saxon companies have joined forces and produced a recruiting video with Dresden-based Blackfire Medien GmbH. In the movie, Emma, a chip designer from the year 2050, accidentally meets Max, who works as a chip designer in the year 2025. Together, with the help of the Saxon companies, they are designing various chips needed for a humanoid robot. Its task: to compensate for the increasing shortage of skilled workers by taking over tasks for which there is a shortage of personnel.
Working group
IC Design” working group
The “IC Design” working group offers a forum for the exchange and networking of circuit designers from Saxony and beyond. The working group covers digital as well as analog IC designs.
