The collaboration between Tata Electronics and ASML will focus on the deployment of ASML’s holistic range of advanced lithography tools and solutions for the Dholera fab. The deployment of ASML’s industry-leading technologies is expected to ensure smooth operations at India’s first commercial 300mm semiconductor fab and deliver value to Tata Electronics’ customers.

The two companies will work together to nurture domestic talent, supply chain and research initiatives to support the long-term success of Tata Electronics’ Dholera fab.

Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Electronics, said: “We are delighted to partner with ASML, a company known for its innovation and leadership in lithography, supporting semiconductor customers globally. ASML’s deep expertise in end-to-end lithography solutions will ensure the timely ramp-up of our Dholera fab, create a resilient and trusted supply chain for our global customers, drive innovation and nurture local talent. This foundational partnership with ASML brings with it a shared commitment to the highest standards of quality, yield and manufacturing excellence and will contribute significantly to building a strong semiconductor ecosystem in India.”

Christophe Fouquet, President and CEO of ASML, added: “India’s fast-growing semiconductor sector offers many promising opportunities and we are committed to building long-term partnerships in the region. Today’s signing of this MoU is an important milestone and we look forward to working closely with Tata Electronics and its wider ecosystem. We are confident that Tata Electronics is well positioned to realize its ambitions in expanding semiconductor capabilities. We are excited and honored to contribute our technological expertise and help nurture talent in India.”

Tata Electronics is developing India’s first commercial 300mm fab in Dholera, Gujarat. With a total planned investment of $11 billion, the facility will manufacture semiconductors for a variety of applications in automotive, mobile devices, artificial intelligence (AI) and other key segments to serve customers globally. Tata Electronics has entered into strategic partnerships with key global customers and ecosystem companies, starting with PSMC (Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, Taiwan), gaining access to a broad technology portfolio including 28nm, 40nm, 55nm, 90nm and 110nm. Construction of the facility is progressing rapidly.

The partnership with ASML is of strategic importance to Tata Electronics as it moves towards building partnerships across the semiconductor ecosystem, which includes equipment, process and design technology and materials.

The availability of skilled local talent is also critical to realizing India’s vision of becoming a leader in global semiconductor manufacturing. Tata Electronics has partnered with several leading international and Indian companies and institutions to equip local youth with the necessary knowledge and skills. Together, Tata Electronics and ASML will also drive initiatives to strengthen the domestic talent pool and ensure a readily available pool of experts.
