In support of this partnership, Advantest has established a new, state-of-the-art innovation center on Applied Materials’ R&D campus that will be seamlessly connected to Applied’s EPIC center.

With the increasing complexity of chips for AI and high-performance computing (HPC), cross-ecosystem collaboration is becoming increasingly important to accelerate the development of next-generation semiconductors and advanced 3D packaging technologies. By combining Applied’s expertise in materials engineering and process control with Advantest’s leading capabilities in semiconductor test and measurement, the companies aim to improve the integration of chip fabrication processes, in-line metrology and test, and final device testing.

“Applied Materials has developed the EPIC platform to dramatically accelerate the commercialization of next-generation semiconductors through collaborative work and innovation with our customers and partners,” said , president and CEO of Applied Materials. “By working closely with Advantest, we can develop solutions that enable chipmakers to optimize their semiconductor production workflows end-to-end and bring new designs to market faster and more efficiently.”

“As semiconductors become increasingly complex, close collaboration with partners across the supply chain is critical to meeting industry needs quickly and accurately,” said , Representative Director and Group CEO of Advantest Corporation. “Establishing our innovation center in next to Applied’s new EPIC center allows us to collaborate faster and jointly develop scalable and cost-effective test methods for our customers’ next-generation devices.”

Applied’s new EPIC (Equipment and Process Innovation and Commercialization) center represents its largest investment in advanced semiconductor equipment research and development to date. The center has been designed from the ground up to dramatically reduce the time to market for breakthrough technologies, from early stage research to volume production. The facility is on schedule to begin operations in 2026.

Located in a dedicated area on the Applied Materials campus in , Advantest’s Innovation Center offers state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities equipped with the latest technology to support a wide range of research and development programs. This new facility will enable engineering teams to collaborate on emerging industry needs and develop fully integrated solutions for complex, next-generation semiconductors.
