A significant chapter is coming to an end: Hans Joachim Münch, co-founder of SONOTEC GmbH, is stepping down from his position as long-standing managing director on August 31, 2023, and will follow founding partner Dr. Santer zur Horst-Meyer into a well-deserved retirement. While a chapter closes, the long prepared generational change at the worldwide recognized specialist for ultrasonic measurement technology reaches its climax at the same time.

Since its foundation in 1991, Hans-Joachim Münch has significantly shaped the development of SONOTEC GmbH with visionary foresight and remarkable commitment. Together with Dr. Santer zur Horst-Meyer, he has built up today’s hidden champion and developed it into a product and solution specialist, particularly in the focus areas: sensors for non-invasive fluid monitoring in medical technology, biotechnology and the semiconductor industry; digital ultrasonic testing equipment for Maintenance 4.0; and customer-specific ultrasonic transducers. Today, the technology company is a global leader with its products in all three business areas.

The change in management began back in 2019, when his two children Manuela Münch and Michael Münch joined the company’s management team and took over as part of a trio together with their father. This gradual handover was well-considered and served to ensure the continuity and success of SONOTEC.

“The founding and management of SONOTEC GmbH have been an incredible journey for me, and I look back on it with pride and joy. After 32 years, it is now the right time to pass the management of the company completely into the hands of the next generation. Both have shown that they will successfully lead the company into the future,” emphasized Hans-Joachim Münch.

For almost a decade, siblings Manuela Münch and Michael Münch have been active in various positions at SONOTEC, contributing their extensive expertise to the company’s management. As managing partners, they will jointly shape the future and continue SONOTEC’s success story.

“Our father left us a strong foundation on which to build. We are ready, have accepted the challenges and continue the tradition with the future of innovative high-tech products and great employees. We thank our father for his trust and are confident to continue the successful development of SONOTEC,” Manuela Münch and Michael Münch expressed with great solidarity.

With a heartfelt thank you for his unparalleled leadership, tireless efforts and best wishes for his well-deserved retirement, Hans-Joachim Münch was duly bid farewell by the employees of SONOTEC GmbH.

The family-owned company is a secure employer in the region and looks confidently into a successful and promising future.
