MicroTec Academy

More skilled workers for microelectronics: improving education and training

The increasing demand for skilled workers in the German microelectronics industry is driven by demographic change, market growth and the expansion of production capacities. The BMBF-funded flagship project “Skills4Chips” is dedicated to the recruitment and qualification of skilled workers. A central component is the Microtec Academy. It bundles existing and develops new qualification paths along the entire education chain, particularly for the fields of microelectronics and microsystems technology.

Modules based on the latest technologies are developed with partners such as the Research Fab Microelectronics Germany (FMD). A digital platform makes these offerings accessible nationwide. A supra-regional vocational training center and a virtual technology laboratory offer practical training. An annual specialist conference promotes the transfer of knowledge.

Duration: November 2024 – October 2028

Funding program: Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)

Target groups: Companies, educational institutions, skilled workers
