About this member

The Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy IMW can look back on over eighteen years of applied socio- and techno-economic research and experience at the Leipzig site. Around 220 employees from fourteen countries support customers and partners from business, industry, politics, research and society in using globalization, digitalization and structural change as a driver for innovation. The interdisciplinary research team at the Leipzig site and, since 2020, the Center for Economics and Management of Technologies in Halle (Saale) provides companies, organizations, institutions, countries, municipalities and regions with scientifically sound support for strategic decision-making processes through international projects, networking activities and analyses.

Originally founded as the Fraunhofer Center for Central and Eastern Europe MOEZ in 2006, the institute's new name, Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy IMW, reflects its new content and strategic orientation since 2016. The institute's areas of expertise are digital value creation, innovation research, structural change, knowledge and technology transfer, technology economics and management, regional transformation and innovation policy, digital health and corporate development in international competition.
