Shaping the future together at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg
We are a technical university that uses scientific expertise to develop practical solutions for shaping the major issues of the future and transformation processes worldwide. We are aware of our special responsibility for progressive and sustainable development in the region. Interdisciplinary clusters and close cooperation with our partners in science and industry enable us to raise our profile, establish international connections and carry out successful projects to tackle these challenges.
We offer our students a challenging education, individual support and the opportunity to learn from and with each other with curiosity and openness. Students from Germany and all over the world contribute to our diverse and inspiring campus life. We offer them the chance to realize their potential and help shape their own perspectives during their studies.
We see ourselves as part of the international academic community. Internationalization is the source of our cultural diversity. It enriches the university community and promotes diversity in teaching and research.
As a university community, all members of BTU pull together. Each and every one of us is essential to the success of our university. We strengthen the skills and enthusiasm of students and employees to contribute creatively, effectively and competently. Respectful and transparent exchange within the university is our principle for dealing with each other.
With its 10,000 students, the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is the second largest university and the only technical university in the state of Brandenburg. Its degree programmes are highly regarded within Germany and worldwide. Key to this success are the many collaborations in both teaching and research that BTU actively pursues not only with other universities and research institutions but also with local small and medium-sized companies as well as large international organisations and enterprises.
The new university was born in 2013 out of a merger of the former BTU Cottbus and the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences and has campuses in Cottbus, Cottbus-Sachsendorf, and Senftenberg.
