KUKA: iiQKA.mxAutomation – SRCI in software interface makes automation even easier

June 12, 2025. KUKA is expanding its iiQKA.mxAutomation software interface to include the SRCI industry standard and is cooperating with Siemens on integration. SRCI enables companies to integrate robotics even more flexibly into their production processes. The interface is compatible with the new KR C5 controller for iiQKA.OS2.

“Easy to use”: even more flexibility through expansion

Seamless robot integration into complex production systems with the help of a central interface – that’s how “easy to use” works. In a joint development process with leading technology company Siemens, the iiQKA.mxAutomation interface from KUKA has now been expanded to include the SRCI industry standard. This extension ensures that robots from different manufacturers can be integrated into the PLC environment in a standardized way – regardless of the robot or PLC manufacturer.

KUKA customers who use iiQKA.mxAutomation gain even more flexibility in the intuitive, quick and easy configuration and operation of their robot systems. The established functions and libraries from the previous versions of mxAutomation can continue to be used as an alternative to SRCI.

Automation possible with little prior knowledge

iiQKA.mxAutomation is compatible with the KR C5 robot controller for iiQKA.OS2 and is therefore ideal for future-oriented production. KUKA robots can be connected to common PLC systems via the software interface, which enables seamless integration of robotics without specific knowledge of programming with the KUKA programming language KRL. The central programming solution saves time and money, especially for companies that want to automate their production with little prior knowledge. iiQKA.mxAutomation with the SRCI extension will be available in the third quarter of 2025.
