With this long-term agreement, Infineon and Amkor are deepening their partnership and expanding it beyond the traditional OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) business model. Amkor will expand its production facility in Porto, be responsible for the operation of the production lines and provide Infineon with its own clean room, while Infineon will support the development and technical production activities in Porto with a local team. The collaboration strengthens the European semiconductor supply chain and contributes to greater resilience – especially for customers in the automotive industry. With this step, Infineon further diversifies its production structure, ensuring an ideal balance between in-house and external manufacturing capabilities.

“We are pleased to deepen our partnership with Amkor and will contribute our engineering and development expertise,” said Alexander Gorski, Executive Vice President and responsible for Infineon’s global back-end activities. “Together, Infineon and Amkor will increase geographic resilience and security of supply for our customers. Together we are strengthening the importance of Europe as a location for semiconductor manufacturing. Infineon has already been successfully operating a large service center in Porto for 20 years with more than 600 employees. With the joint production center, we will now become more than ever an integral part of the excellent semiconductor ecosystem in Portugal. We look forward to further expanding our presence in Portugal.”

“Amkor is proud to deepen our partnership with Infineon,” said Giel Rutten, President and Chief Executive Officer of Amkor. “We are continuously investing in our production site in Porto to expand our capacity and grow our portfolio for advanced packaging and test technologies. This collaboration is another milestone for both companies to improve the supply chain for advanced products for automotive and industrial applications.”
