With the growing demands of this sector for autonomous driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), electrification, driving comfort and infotainment, the requirements for computing power, functional safety and cyber security are also increasing. This task can only be fulfilled with more powerful microcontrollers (such as the AURIX Tc4x) in combination with intelligent software platforms that can be integrated into the system development process.
The embedded software team from Siemens and Infineon worked together with the lead customer BMW on the production readiness of the embedded ECU control unit software. Siemens has also been working with OEMs on a cloud-based software development process for SDVs (software-defined vehicles) using the latest software development tools.
“Our collaboration with Infineon is longstanding and highly successful, providing leading automotive OEM customers with powerful microcontrollers running AUTOSAR-based embedded software that drives the future of the software-defined vehicle industry,” said Frances Evans, Senior Vice President, Lifecycle Collaboration Software, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “The first production-ready implementation of the AURIX Tc4x demonstrates how a more consolidated, holistic approach can help the SDV industry produce the latest features customers are asking for.”
“Infineon has been working on the AUTOSAR standard since 2004 and delivers AUTOSAR solutions for its own microcontroller portfolio, such as the AURIX Tc4x,” said Thomas Schneid, Senior Director Software, Partnership and Ecosystem Management at Infineon. “Our collaboration with Siemens Digital Industries Software is focused on providing the latest microcontrollers with AUTOSAR-based embedded software that OEMs can use to drive the future of software-defined vehicles.”
The latest Capital™ Embedded AR Classic software from Siemens supports the latest microcontrollers on the market with an AUTOSAR software platform for the multicore processor, functional safety and cybersecurity features on the AURIX Tc4x, providing feature-rich software with pre-validated proofs of functional safety and cybersecurity, simplifying the approval process with OEMs. Microcontrollers such as the AURIX Tc4x are key components in the automotive industry; they control and monitor many different systems in the vehicle such as the electric drive, battery management, driver assistance systems, radar and chassis. AURIX TC4x microcontrollers from Infineon combine power and performance enhancements with the latest trends in virtualization, AI-based modeling, functional safety, cybersecurity and network functions. This paves the way for new E/E architectures as well as the next generation of software-defined vehicles.
