About six years ago, Rudolf von Scheven GmbH, a medium-sized company with around 70 employees, decided to replace its previous ERP system. COBUS ERP/3, which is provided by COBUS ConCept GmbH, was chosen as a future-proof software with active further development. In addition to a general increase in efficiency, more advanced production planning was a particular medium-term goal.
Initially, production planning was still largely carried out manually using the Excel planning tool. Only very few employees had fully mastered this planning document, which was a major burden for these people and a risk for the company. This dependency on personnel and the lack of flexibility led to significant challenges in weekly production planning.
In order to meet the increasing requirements and the desired goal of becoming a smart factory, an automated planning solution was required. The GANTTPLAN APS from DUALIS closed the gap. Today, the Expert version is used successfully as a desktop client at Rudolf von Scheven in conjunction with COBUS ERP/3. GANTTPLAN Expert is an interactive APS system for production companies with high requirements in terms of order scheduling and the additional need for personnel and/or tool planning.
From Excel to fully automated planning
With GANTTPLAN, production planning at Rudolf von Scheven is now fully automated. The key features include automatic setup optimization, detailed planning of production resources and personnel planning based on employee qualifications. This functionality is crucial, as Rudolf von Scheven’s products – especially certified components for critical infrastructures – may only be processed by specially qualified personnel. In addition to the 50 machines and workstations and 40 employees, additional external workstations are also taken into account. The solution makes it possible to precisely plan and monitor complex order structures as well as machines and employees in production.
In the COBUS ERP/3 system, material requirements are planned on the basis of daily available capacities. GANTTPLAN links the various material providers (warehouse stocks, supplier orders, production orders) with the material consumers (customer and production orders) and thus enables realistic planning, taking into account capacity limitations. This supports seamless integration and verification of material flows in production planning.
Planning transformed – efficiency redefined
