DIU: Impulses for the working world of tomorrow – Silicon Saxony as a guest at DIU

June 17, 2025. Last week, we hosted the Silicon Saxony Human Resources Development Working Group. The meeting focused on a topic that is particularly important to us as a university: individual skills development as part of strategic personnel development. Numerous HR experts, entrepreneurs, scientists and representatives from educational institutions came to our campus to network, share knowledge and take away new ideas for the further development of employees, organizations and their companies.

A warm welcome and insights into our university concept

Our guests were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Antonio Hurtado, President of DIU, who introduced us with our profile, our philosophy and our development goals.

Our Academic Affairs Manager Lea Claus then gave an insight into our modular university concept and how individual educational programmes are developed. It allows us to react quickly and flexibly to current educational needs: We can design and test certificate courses within a short space of time and – if successful – develop them into independent study programmes.

Thinking the future – shaping the organization

An exciting impulse was provided by Kristin Borner, Head of Human Resources and Organizational Development at TUDAG, with her presentation on the WIR model. This holistic concept of organizational development combines strategy, purpose and culture in three phases that build on each other: Work, Identification and Relationship. Methods such as employee surveys, team events and reflections are used to promote effectiveness, belonging and cooperation – an approach that makes emotionally intelligent personnel development tangible.

Many thanks also to Carmen Neuburg, research assistant at TU Dresden, for her inspiring presentation on Future Skills and the ZuKo4Saxony project. With clear impulses for HR managers, the presentation showed how organizational development can be specifically designed in the direction of future skills. The presentation bridged the gap between sound theoretical principles and practical examples from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Saxony. The presentation of the emerging learning platform, on which the content of the project will be made available as compact learning nuggets suitable for everyday use, was particularly exciting. A valuable contribution that whets the appetite for the free pilot phase from the beginning of next year. Exchange, discussion, networking

Our guests brought many questions and perspectives with them – a lively exchange with exciting discussions and innovative ideas ensued. At the final get-together, networks were strengthened, new contacts were made and discussions were deepened in a relaxed atmosphere.

We are delighted with the consistently positive feedback and would like to thank everyone involved for coming, their contributions and their interest. It was a successful day – with valuable suggestions for the HR development of tomorrow.
