The new Bitkom guide “The current state of the metaverse” provides answers. The publication offers a well-founded classification of developments, analyzes regulatory and technological advances and uses numerous practical examples to show how companies from a wide range of industries can take advantage of the technology’s potential. “While investment in consumer applications has declined, industrial and business-oriented applications of the metaverse continue to develop – albeit less visibly than during the hype phase. Technologies such as artificial intelligence and AR/VR are influencing each other and driving innovation in the metaverse,” says Dr. Sebastian Klöß, Head of Markets and Technologies at Bitkom. “Companies should not underestimate this development, but accompany it strategically.”
As a representative Bitkom study of over 600 companies showed last year, there is still a great deal of uncertainty among German companies when it comes to the metaverse: 83% say they are waiting to see what experiences other companies have had with the metaverse. In principle, however, around a quarter (23 percent) are interested in and open to the metaverse, while a further 43 percent are still undecided.
