Bechtle: IT system house s.i.g. acquired

September 3, 2024. Bechtle AG acquires s.i.g. System Informations Gesellschaft mbH, headquartered in Neu-Ulm and with two additional locations in Erfurt and Jena. Founded in 1997, the IT system house generated revenues of 25.4 million euros in the past fiscal year and currently employs 50 people. With this well-established and regionally well-known company, Bechtle is strengthening its market position in the economic region around Ulm and adding specific “industrial IT” to its portfolio, i.e. targeted contract manufacturing of IT infrastructures and networks in the production environment. For Bechtle, the acquisition is part of its growth strategy in the administrative district of Swabia. Bechtle is currently constructing an office building and a parking garage on the future IT campus in the immediate vicinity of the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences. The new site is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2026 and will offer space for up to 300 employees. In addition to the three regionally active companies of the Bechtle Group, the integration of s.i.g. is now also planned in the new, state-of-the-art building.

With the sale of the company, s.i.g. is settling the succession in the management and, as part of the largest German IT system house, expects improved opportunities for gaining further market share and expanding its own portfolio. Founded 27 years ago in Ulm, the company has an excellent reputation in the industry and among customers, which include medium-sized companies as well as corporations, public sector clients and the healthcare sector. In addition to the classic IT system house portfolio with a focus on workplace and server & storage solutions, s.i.g. also has an Industrial IT division that takes on customized product development and the provision of hardware for specific production environments. All s.i.g. locations are to remain in place in the future. Following the completion of the Bechtle IT Future Hub in Neu-Ulm, Bechtle companies and s.i.g. plan to move in together at the beginning of 2026.

The founder of s.i.g. and previous Managing Director, Guido Fetzer, will initially remain with the company, as will his Co-Managing Director Eugen Straub, in order to ensure continuity in customer support together with the management team and all employees. The company name s.i.g. will also remain unchanged until further notice.

The takeover is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities. As usual, the parties have agreed not to disclose the terms and purchase price.
