Advances in AI development have the potential to improve the way we work, live, learn and interact with each other. Open and transparent innovation is essential to provide a broad spectrum of AI researchers, developers and users with the information and tools they need to harness these advances in a way that prioritizes safety, diversity, economic opportunity and benefits for all.
Many individual companies, start-ups, researchers, governments and other stakeholders are already committed to open knowledge and technology transfer and want to be part of the AI innovation wave. Closer networking and a more intensive exchange of information can help this decentralized community to innovate faster and more inclusively, identify risks and mitigate them.
Broad alliance wants to democratize AI value creation and make it universally available
To support these goals, we are launching the AI Alliance today. This is a group of leading industrial companies, start-ups, players from science and research as well as governmental and government-related initiatives. The AI Alliance is action-oriented, international and cross-sectoral. Its goal is to shape the development of AI to meet the needs and complexity of our societies.
The AI Alliance aims to foster an open community and enable developers and researchers to accelerate responsible innovation in AI while ensuring scientific rigor, trust, safety, diversity and economic competitiveness. By connecting leading developers, scientists, academic institutions, companies and other innovators, it will pool resources and knowledge to address safety concerns while providing a platform for sharing and developing solutions.
Establishing benchmark and best practices for trustworthiness and availability
The AI Alliance plans to launch or expand projects that support the following goals:
- Implement benchmarks, tools, and other resources that enable the responsible development and use of AI systems on a global scale, including creating a catalog of vetted security and trust tools and supporting and enabling these tools in close exchange with the developer community for model and application development.
- Responsibly foster the ecosystem of open base models with multiple modalities, including high-performance multilingual, multimodal and scientific models that can help address social challenges in climate, human health and beyond.
- Foster an ecosystem of dynamic AI hardware accelerators by promoting the adoption of and contributions to key software technologies.
- Support global AI knowledge transfer, education and exploratory research, and engage the academic community to support researchers and students to learn and contribute to important AI model and tool research projects.
- Develop educational content and resources to inform public discourse and policymakers about the benefits, risks, solutions, and precision regulation for AI.
- Initiatives that promote the open development of AI in a safe and beneficial way, such as exploring AI use cases.
About the AI Alliance
To ensure that open innovation in AI benefits everyone and is built responsibly, the AI Alliance consists of a broad alliance of companies and institutions working in the fields of AI education, research, development and implementation, and regulation.

- Creators of tools that guide AI benchmarking, trust and validation metrics and best practices, and application creation. How the AI Alliance works
The AI Alliance will begin its work by forming member-driven working groups covering all of the above topics. The AI Alliance will also establish a Board of Directors and a Technical Oversight Committee dedicated to advancing the above project areas, as well as establishing general project standards and guidelines.
In addition to bringing together leading developers, scientists, students, and executives in the field of artificial intelligence, the AI Alliance will collaborate with key existing initiatives from governments, non-profits, and civil society organizations doing focused work in the AI field.
