November 3, 2023. 42 students at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) have been awarded a Deutschlandstipendium scholarship for their outstanding academic achievements and social commitment. BTU President Prof. Dr. Gesine Grande presented the scholarship certificates to the students together with Prof. Dr. Peer Schmidt, Vice President for Studies and Teaching, on November 1, 2023.

I am delighted for our students, who stood their ground among almost 200 applicants with their excellent performance and commitment to society. Last but not least, the increase in scholarships is a sign of trust and recognition from the scholarship providers. They are thus supporting our young talent, increasing the attractiveness of BTU as a place to study and are themselves given the opportunity to further expand the cooperation between their companies and BTU.”
The donors, who donated half of the amount, were also present. Among them is BREMER Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH, which is making six scholarships possible for the first time this year as a premium donor. “One of our goals at BREMER is to promote young talent in the long term and support them at the start of their careers. Through our commitment to the Deutschlandstipendium, we take responsibility for the talents of tomorrow and, together with the BTU, create excellent study conditions that enable the development of innovative ideas,” says Björn Michelchen, Managing Director of BREMER Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH and BTU alumnus.
Founders and the federal government are jointly committed to the Deutschlandstipendium: The scholarship holders are supported with 300 euros per month so that they can realize their potential during their studies and continue to contribute to society with a high level of motivation. 150 euros are provided by private sponsors or companies and 150 euros are funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The Deutschlandstipendium thus stands for an alliance of civil society commitment and state funding.
In addition to very good academic performance, the selection criteria include social, societal or political commitment. Special successes, awards and prizes or previous professional activity and internships also count. The Brandenburg University of Technology has been awarding Germany Scholarships every year since 2011. This year there are more than ever before.
