“At ZEISS, we are continuously developing digital diagnostic tools that help to make workflows effective and efficient, thereby reducing costs, improving outcomes and enhancing the patient experience,” says Magnus Reibenspiess, Head of the Ophthalmology Strategic Business Unit at ZEISS Medical Technology. “The AI capabilities of the ZEISS CIRRUS PathFinder support rapid diagnostics and patient-centered treatment.”
“ZEISS is leveraging the potential of data and AI to develop integrated digital solutions that pave the way to the future of ophthalmology to enable more efficient workflows, cost savings, optimal treatment outcomes and an improved patient experience,” explains Dr. Euan S. Thomson, Head of the Digital Business Unit at ZEISS Medical Technology. “With our strategic focus on digitally connected workflows, we support medical professionals with powerful AI-powered solutions. ZEISS CIRRUS PathFinder is another example of this.”
Research shows that doctors who use AI algorithms can work more efficiently and accurately. ZEISS CIRRUS with PathFinder offers high-speed imaging in HD resolution2, a wide field of view and AI-assisted decision support.
“The groundbreaking technology of our AI decision support PathFinder identifies OCT B-scans that require additional review. This takes our diagnostic portfolio to a whole new level of patient care,” says Anuj Kalra, Head of Business Sector Chronic Disease Management at ZEISS Medical Technology.
Improves efficiency in treatment decision-making: Without the need for export and data analysis by third-party platforms, the integrated AI-driven decision aid ZEISS CIRRUS PathFinder interprets data seamlessly during the usual diagnostic workflow. Numerous scans are evaluated simultaneously in real time, saving doctors valuable time: Even during image acquisition, the AI-driven solution highlights areas that require more detailed imaging. This allows users to focus on what is important during image analysis – improving patient care.
Optimized image quality – The new CIRRUS operating software offers AI-supported visualization of the vessel structure and B-scan averaging of OCTA structure scans. Optimized slice segmentation improves diagnostic capabilities for users and supports even more efficient decision making.
Improved connectivity and security – Newly developed cybersecurity features are designed to meet rapidly changing compliance and security requirements. In addition, the ZEISS CIRRUS platform ensures seamless viewing of OCT data along with other diagnostic modalities to sustainably improve patient care.
CIRRUS® PathFinder™ is available via licensing as part of the new ZEISS CIRRUS software update. This also includes an updated reference database (RDB) that is three times the size of the previous RDB, improved cybersecurity features, multi-tier segmentation and optimized OCTA visualization. The ZEISS CIRRUS PathFinder software update is available in selected countries.
1 ZEISS PathFinder is available for current generation ZEISS CIRRUS devices: 500, 5000, 6000. However, RDB2 is only compatible with data from ZEISS CIRRUS 6000.
2 Only applicable to ZEISS CIRRUS 6000.
