The ranking particularly recognizes the representation of women at the level of doctorates, scientific staff and in the post-doc phase, which at TUD is over 40 percent in each case. In terms of academic staff and professorships, the TUD is characterized by its positive dynamics of change: The proportion of women has been continuously increased in recent years.
Prof.in Roswitha Böhm, Vice-Rector for University Culture, emphasizes:
“The successes in the CEWS Ranking 2025 and the Women Professors Program 2030 reinforce our belief that we are on the right track. They are an expression of our joint commitment to a university culture that promotes diversity and equal opportunities. Equality and diversity are the basis for innovation and academic excellence and are essential for successful cooperation in research, teaching and administration.”
With its equality concept for parity as part of the “Female Professors Program 2030”, TUD was not only able to convince the reviewers with great progress, but also scored points with its ambitious action plan for the coming years. In the areas of university culture and governance, academic career, studies and teaching, research and technology transfer as well as quality management, TUD is ambitiously advancing its equality goals with 52 impact-oriented measures.
About the CEWS ranking
The CEWS ranking, published by the GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, is considered an established instrument for quality assurance of equality at German universities. The CEWS ranking follows the cascade model, in which the proportion of women at each career level is assessed in relation to the level below. The CEWS ranking uses the Federal Statistical Office as a data source and is published every two years. The current ranking is based on data from 2023.
