Through close collaboration between SRZ staff and faculty from the Chair of Computer Science Education, new club topics have emerged, including offerings that are more appealing to girls and also cater to those who are still discovering computer science for themselves. For example, there is a course called “Code and Thread” for creative work with a programmable embroidery machine.
For students, the TUD Student Computer Center (SRZ) is a great opportunity to test their technical knowledge, learn about new developments in various areas of computer science, and try them out in practice. Over 100 students take advantage of the course offerings each year.
The new course offerings cover three subject areas: “Discovering the Digital World” is aimed specifically at younger students starting in 5th grade and is designed to spark their enthusiasm for computer science. In “Computer Science Plus,” interested students in 7th grade and above have the opportunity to explore topics in computer science that go well beyond the school curriculum. “University Preparation and Career Orientation” already offers courses that prepare students for a degree in computer science or for entering computer science-related vocational training programs.

The opening event will take place on September 23 starting at 4:00 p.m. 2026 in Room 1004 of the Andreas-Pfitzmann-Bau, Nöthnitzer Str. 46, and will feature a tour of the facilities as well as an overview of selected course offerings.
