Integration as subsidiary, change of leadership
Thomas Schulz, the previous Managing Director of Robot Valley Saxony, is leaving the company for personal reasons. Under his leadership, the company had established itself as a key player in the European robotics landscape and made a significant contribution to Saxony’s development as a robotics hotspot.
“Since Robot Valley Saxony was founded in 2021, the international networking of players from industry, science, business, start-ups and politics has been the focus and a matter close to my heart. As a subsidiary of the Smart Systems Hub, this ecosystem can now grow in an even more targeted manner and provide new impetus for innovation. I am convinced that under the umbrella of – and together with – the Smart Systems Hub, the company will be a driving force for technological progress in the region and beyond,” says Thomas Schulz.
Robot Valley Saxony remains independent
Robot Valley Saxony will continue to operate as an independent company under the umbrella of the Smart Systems Hub. Customers and partners can therefore continue to rely on the expert’s usual services and international network.
Michael Kaiser, CEO of the Smart Systems Hub, emphasizes: “We would like to thank Mr. Schulz for his tireless efforts and wish him all the best for the future. His commitment has had a decisive impact on Robot Valley Saxony and has played a key role in establishing the region as a robotics hotspot. We are now building on this foundation: From now on, the Smart Systems Hub will enrich the robotics ecosystem with extensive co-innovation offerings. By combining our expertise, we are creating a common basis and exploiting synergies between the Internet of Things, robotics and AI, thereby leveraging new potential. This creates solutions for today’s transformation and automation issues – with an impact far beyond Saxony’s borders.”
New chapter for Saxony’s innovation landscape
By bringing together the expertise of Robot Valley Saxony and the Smart Systems Hub, Saxony is positioning itself even more strongly as a technological innovation hub. The newly created unit aims to develop solutions for global challenges and further consolidate Saxony’s role as a technology pioneer in times of increasing international competition in industry. Through targeted cooperation with science, manufacturers and start-ups, an ecosystem continues to grow that not only generates new technologies, but also enables their rapid implementation in marketable products and applications.
Up-to-date note: The “Robotics & AI EXPERIENCE” event originally planned for February 2025 has been canceled as a result of the takeover. The decision was made to ensure a smooth integration and to optimally bundle resources. Together with Robot Valley Saxony, the Smart Systems Hub is already working on a replacement event in fall 2025.
