Information event: IPCEI Advanced Semiconductor Technologies (IPCEI AST)
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) has published a new announcement on the funding of innovative projects as part of the important project of common European interest for novel semiconductor technologies (IPCEI AST). The aim is to deepen European cooperation and strengthen the microelectronics ecosystem. As the project management agency, we are supporting the BMWE in implementing the measure.
Information event for the announcement
The announcement will be presented at an information event organised by the BMWE and VDI/VDE-IT on 9 December 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to ask questions, particularly regarding the submission of outlines. The event will take place online and is free of charge.

Subject of the funding
The IPCEI AST focuses on highly innovative research, development and industrialisation projects, including first industrial deployment (FID), which can be classified in at least one of the following areas and exceed the global state of the art:
- AI chips and accelerators
- Chiplets and heterointegration
- Photonic integrated circuits
- Disruptive sensors for automation
- Power electronics with disruptive energy-saving solutions
- Secure communication and
- Key technologies in the microelectronics value chain that enable technological developments in the above-mentioned areas, e.g. raw wafers, chip design, advanced packaging, manufacturing equipment and metrology.
Submission of project outline
Outlines of project proposals may be submitted to the project management agency Microelectronics and Communication Technologies for the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy by 15 January 2026.
