Silicon Saxony: Kick-off of the MultiDATBot project in Wetzlar – launch of a new research network for human-centered automation

February 25, 2026. On February 24, 2026, Hexagon Metrology GmbH in Wetzlar officially kicked off the MultiDATBot joint project. Partners from research, industry and education came together to launch the collaboration as part of the BMFTR-funded project and the PTKA-supervised project and to coordinate the next steps for the coming three years. The collaboration will start on January 1, 2026 and end on December 31, 2028.

The aim of MultiDATBot is to develop a human-centered, intelligent data system for multi-cobot applications in small series production. By intelligently linking robotics, measurement technology, AI-supported data analysis based on a data ecosystem and innovative qualification formats, a new production concept is to be created that makes it easier for SMEs in particular to access automated, data-based manufacturing processes.

The focus is on a networked data ecosystem that makes measurement and process data usable in real time – for adaptive process control, higher quality stability and intuitive operation, even by non-experts. At the same time, digital learning opportunities and training concepts for a learning management system are being developed to prepare employees specifically for working with collaborative robot systems.

The kick-off served to coordinate the technical and didactic project strands, the distribution of roles in the consortium and the definition of initial milestones. A subsequent tour of Hexagon production provided practical insights into industrial measurement technology and future application scenarios.

We look forward to working together in the consortium and to jointly shaping new paths for data-driven, human-centered production.
