VIP

“Virtual practical course in vacuum technology”

VIP develops modern, digital learning formats for vocational education and training under the direction of qfmd – Qualifizierung für Mikroelektronik Dresden GmbH. Silicon Saxony provides support in particular with needs assessment and project-related public relations work.

VIP is aimed at trainees in mechatronics and microtechnology as well as employees of companies in the chip industry. The aim is to enable hands-on learning – even when real systems are only available to a limited extent or training situations would be associated with increased risks. Through the targeted and educational use of virtual and extended reality technologies, learning processes can be designed safely, flexibly and realistically.

The learning concept combines online and face-to-face phases and combines VR/XR-supported training with work on real, industry-standard vacuum technology. This teaches in-depth knowledge and skills for the semiconductor industry and enables participants to solve technical problems in a systematic and structured way. With this approach, the project makes a contribution to future-proof vocational training and to securing skilled workers in Saxony’s leading microelectronics sector.
