SAP: Thomas Saueressig appointed Chief Customer Officer of SAP

SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced the creation of a new Executive Board division, Customer Value Group, combining Customer Success and Customer Services & Delivery, effective April 1.

The newly created Executive Board division aims to further strengthen SAP’s customer-centric approach by ensuring a consistent and seamless experience from initial contact through to sustainable value creation.

The Customer Value Group is headed by Thomas Saueressig (40), who will in future bear the title of Chief Customer Officer due to his expanded area of responsibility. In this position, he is responsible for the entire customer journey and ensures that sales, provision, service and support are optimally coordinated. The aim is to increasingly introduce cloud and AI-based SAP solutions to the customer base. Jan Gilg and Manos Raptopoulos, members of the extended Executive Board, will report directly to Saueressig and continue to jointly lead the Customer Success organization.

Thomas Saueressig, who has been with the company since 2004, joined the Executive Board of SAP SE in 2019. Prior to his new position, he was Head of Customer Services & Delivery with global responsibility for sustainable customer success in the cloud. Previously, he headed SAP Product Engineering, was responsible for the entire SAP application portfolio and, as Chief Information Officer, drove SAP’s internal cloud-first transformation. Saueressig holds a degree in Business Informatics from the Mannheim University of Cooperative Education and an Executive MBA from ESSEC Business School in France and Mannheim Business School in Germany.
