With the acquisition of Software Radio Systems, Rohde & Schwarz is expanding its technology portfolio in the field of software-defined radio (SDR), thereby strengthening its position in the mobile radio software market – particularly in the emerging non-terrestrial network (NTN) and 6G segments. The acquisition was completed with effect from March 5, 2026. SRS was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Ireland with offices in Barcelona and the USA. Since its foundation, the company has grown from a start-up to a globally recognized innovator in mobile communications software. In doing so, it has established itself as a major player in a highly competitive market through deep technical expertise, consistent product innovation and a strong commitment to open and interoperable network architectures.
By integrating SRS, Rohde & Schwarz is expanding its expertise in software-based radio technology in a targeted manner to better serve existing market segments and open up new business opportunities. At the same time, SRS is entering a new phase of accelerated growth: With Rohde & Schwarz’s extensive technical resources, global reach and strategically sustainable long-term planning, SRS has the ideal foundation to scale its technology, grow internationally and realize its long-term mission. The combination of Rohde & Schwarz’s measurement expertise with SRS’s RAN competence creates strong synergies that will sustainably drive software-defined mobile network solutions.
Goce Talaganov, Vice President Mobile Radio Testers, explains: “I am very pleased that Software Radio Systems will become part of the Rohde & Schwarz Group. SRS combines deep telecommunications and radio know-how with agile software development and is therefore the ideal addition to our mobile radio testing portfolio, which will benefit the customers of both companies. What SRS and its employees have built up over the past few years is a real success story, the likes of which are not often seen. From now on, together we will continue to push the boundaries of what is technically feasible, leverage new synergies and thus create impact in the market.”
Paul Sutton, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Software Radio Systems, is ready for the future. “I am delighted that Software Radio Systems will become part of the Rohde & Schwarz Group. This step is a significant milestone for all of us at SRS. We will continue to operate as SRS – with our proven leadership team and a clear commitment to our strategic priorities. What is changing is our ability to scale quickly and sustainably drive the execution of our roadmap – including pioneering initiatives such as the OCUDU project. With Rohde & Schwarz, we gain the strength of a global technology leader: deep technical expertise, worldwide presence and a long-term strategic perspective that will enable us to grow faster and pursue bigger goals. Together, we will further expand the impact of our software-based solutions and develop innovations that create measurable added value for our customers.”
The management team of Software Radio Systems, Paul Sutton, Ismael Gomez and Andre Puschmann, will remain with the software specialist in leading positions. Together with their team at SRS and their new colleagues at Rohde & Schwarz, they will use their expertise and passion for innovation and cutting-edge technology to drive forward the development of software-based mobile radio solutions and thus contribute to the long-term success of Rohde & Schwarz.
