At Techniker Krankenkasse, we are committed to protecting our society's most valuable asset: people's health. Where we come from

We are Techniker Krankenkasse – founded over 140 years ago by technicians for technicians. For a long time, we were only able to insure people in technical professions, but since 1996, anyone can take out insurance with us. We have kept the name because it also stands for the way we approach things: we never want to stop learning and we always want to improve our services for you. Especially when it comes to people's health. 

October 3, 1884, marked the birth of TK. At that time, it was still known as the “Registered Relief Fund for Architects, Engineers, and Technicians.”

What drives us

We are proud to have earned the trust of 12.3 million people. For them, we are more than just a health insurance company: we are the driving force behind smart healthcare solutions – with people at the center. Specifically, this means that we actively support our customers in staying healthy or getting healthy with services that we tailor to their individual situations in consultation with them. We are strongly committed to the further development of the healthcare system, providing decisive impetus as a dialogue and development partner for politics and society.
