AMO – A non-profit research company

Pioneering innovation and new technologies

AMO is a dynamic and application-oriented research institute based in Aachen with first-class expertise in the fields of graphene electronics, nanophotonics, nanostructuring, sensor technology, and perovskite optoelectronics. With our knowledge and research results, we translate the latest research findings into new applications and develop innovative technologies that solve the challenges of tomorrow. For more than 30 years, we have been a pioneer for innovation at the interface between academic and industrial research – in publicly funded R&D projects, together with national and international partners from industry, science, SMEs, and start-ups.

For greater innovation potential since 1993

AMO GmbH was founded in 1993 with the support of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). From the outset, AMO's goal was to become an incubator for innovation in the Rhine region by providing a central infrastructure for nanotechnology that bridges the gap between academic and industrial research. We are constantly expanding our expertise and technological capabilities to secure our competitive advantage in the future.

Research for the common good

AMO sees technological progress as an important prerequisite for increasing the common good. We conduct research to find sustainable technological solutions to the global challenges facing our society – whether in the fields of information technology, energy and the environment, or life sciences.
