MANN+HUMMEL informed the employees at the Speyer site about the plans today. There are currently 600 employees at the Speyer site, 400 of whom work in production and production-related activities. The company will now immediately enter into talks with the works council. Among other things, these talks will focus on a possible reconciliation of interests and a social plan for the employees affected. The aim is to develop viable and socially acceptable solutions together with the employee representatives.
The Speyer site has made a significant contribution to the success of MANN+HUMMEL over many years. The achievements of the employees deserve the greatest respect. The planned measures are not an assessment of the performance of the employees on site, but the result of a strategic further development of the European production network.
Customers expect competitive costs and reliable delivery today more than ever. At the same time, the general conditions in Europe are changing noticeably: economic growth remains weak, energy and labor costs are high and global trade conditions – such as tariffs and geopolitical uncertainties – are increasing the cost and planning pressure along the supply chains. MANN+HUMMEL regularly reviews its production structures in order to further develop the European production network in such a way that quality, delivery capability and competitiveness remain assured in the long term.
The intended relocation of production is a step towards concentrating production volumes more strongly at existing locations and making more efficient use of economies of scale and investments in automated production processes. This will strengthen the competitiveness of the European production network in the long term. The adjustment of the production structure will help to continue to reliably supply customers worldwide with high-quality filtration solutions at competitive prices.
The possible changes would take place in a multi-year process and extend until the end of 2028 at the latest.
