Infineon: Edge AI capabilities further expanded – Bluetooth customers’ platform selection for machine learning-based models increased

Together with Edge Impulse, Infineon Technologies AG is expanding its offering of AI development tools based on Tiny Machine Learning for the PSoC™ 63 Bluetooth® LE microcontroller (MCU). This means that developers of AI-enabled IoT applications can now use the Edge Impulse Studio environment to develop Machine Learning (ML) applications for use on high-performance, low-power PSoC 63 Bluetooth LE MCUs.

The partnership provides customers with additional flexibility and a choice of platforms for native development and configuration of ML applications for systems based on PSoC 63 Bluetooth LE MCU devices. These offer 150 MHz Arm® CPU performance with low-power connectivity and a variety of peripheral options. For example, the CY8CKIT-062-BLE Pioneer Kit combined with the E-Ink Display Shield Board (CY8CKIT-028-EPD) includes an inertial measurement unit, microphone and temperature sensor. It supports applications that process real-world sensor data from AI models based on Tiny Machine Learning, optimized for energy-efficient, low-cost edge IoT environments.

Infineon’s PSoC 63 Bluetooth LE MCU devices integrate a dual-core Arm® Cortex®-M4F and Arm Cortex-M0+ chip architecture and Bluetooth LE 5.2 on a single chip. This also includes configurable voltage and frequency settings, integrated hardware-based security, advanced capacitive interfaces and more. As the only 150 MHz Bluetooth LE MCU on the market, this powerful variant of the PSoC family combines power efficiency, compact size and programmability. It is thus perfectly suited for edge IoT applications using advanced ML algorithms.

Edge Impulse’s offerings streamline the entire process of acquiring and structuring data sets, designing algorithms with pre-built building blocks, and validating models with real-time data. This also enables the fully optimized, production-ready results to be transferred to edge targets such as the PSoC 63 Bluetooth LE MCU.
