IBM Z has been one of the technological backbones of the global economy for decades and is now a central component of hybrid cloud environments to support the critical operations of organizations worldwide. Modern mainframes are at the heart of organizations across industries, providing a highly secure platform to run their most critical workloads. They set standards in efficiency, data protection and cyber resilience. The IBM z16 with integrated on-chip AI accelerator – the IBM Telum Processor – provides latency-optimized inferencing, and enterprises can deploy real-time AI inferencing within transaction processing.
Resilient demand for mainframe services
T-Systems is seeing robust demand for mainframe services and capabilities. IBM Z is an important platform for hosting business-critical applications for many companies in the DACH market. T-Systems is therefore investing in mainframe delivery capacity and positioning itself as a reliable and experienced provider of mainframe services. Through this collaboration with IBM, T-Systems customers will receive end-to-end mainframe services including mainframe hosting, transformation and modernization, as well as support for automation and AI integration.
Strategic alignment for sustainability and digital transformation
The use of the latest IBM mainframe generation IBM z16, IBM storage and IBM software in T-Systems’ data center, which already use automation and AI components to optimize the systems, is intended to both increase efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions in the data center. In addition, T-Systems will continue to drive forward its digital transformation initiatives and offer its customers customized end-to-end solutions.
“We have been working successfully with IBM for a long time. Our customers expect a high level of reliability from us, but also powerful software, automation, support for the integration of AI and sustainability. With IBM’s solutions, we are in an even better position to reliably provide them with this business-critical infrastructure and thus increase their competitiveness,” says Ferri Abolhassan, Member of the Board of Management Deutsche Telekom and CEO T-Systems.
“We are very pleased that T-Systems has decided to invest in the mainframe environment to actively drive digital transformation. T-Systems is making a major contribution to the modernization of existing systems and the introduction of both data- and AI-based as well as automated business models and business processes with IBM hardware and software solutions,” explains Wolfgang Wendt, General Manager & Technology Leader, IBM DACH.
