The three consultants are joining FMC at a crucial stage in the company’s development. As FMC continues to advance its differentiated memory technologies and expand its industrial footprint, the company is establishing the operational, manufacturing, and commercial foundations necessary for long-term growth and future large-scale production.
Dr. Olaf Herzog brings over 25 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, factory integration, supply chain management, and Industry 4.0. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Supply Chain, Data, and Digitalization Strategy at Infineon Technologies, having previously held leadership positions in factory integration, manufacturing systems, and global supply chain operations at Infineon, GlobalFoundries, and AMD. At FMC, he will serve in an advisory capacity on system integration across the foundry, backend manufacturing, and supply chain operations.
Chuck Dennison joins FMC following an outstanding career at Intel, Micron Technology, and Ovonyx. He began his career in the field of advanced memory process integration at Micron, where he led teams for DRAM and SRAM process integration before helping to develop phase-change memory as VP and COO of Ovonyx. He later returned to Micron to lead NAND process integration and most recently served as Vice President of 3D XPoint/Optane memory process integration at Intel. At FMC, he will serve in an advisory capacity in the areas of memory process integration, production readiness, and technology scaling.
Greg Schmergel has more than two decades of experience building and leading companies in the memory technology sector. As co-founder and CEO of Nantero, he dedicated over 20 years to the development and commercialization of NRAM memory technology. In addition to his entrepreneurial background, Schmergel brings extensive experience in strategy, capital raising, and commercial partnerships. At FMC, he will serve as an advisor in the areas of strategic business development, partnerships, and commercialization.
Thomas Rueckes, CEO of FMC, said: “As we drive DRAM+ and CACHE+ toward commercialization, it is crucial that we continue to build expertise in technology, manufacturing, and business development. Olaf, Chuck, and Greg each bring unique experience that is perfectly aligned with what lies ahead. Their decision to support FMC reaffirms both our technology and our commitment to building a globally significant memory company headquartered in Europe.”
Dr. Olaf Herzog, Senior Advisor at FMC, added: “FMC has established an impressive technological foundation and is now entering a phase where industrial implementation is becoming increasingly important. I look forward to supporting the company in developing the systems, processes, and manufacturing partnerships necessary for successful scaling.”
Chuck Dennison, Senior Advisor at FMC, stated: “FMC is developing a highly differentiated memory technology that combines DRAM-level performance with non-volatility, thereby addressing requirements not met by today’s mainstream memory solutions. As memory becomes increasingly important for next-generation computer systems, FMC has the opportunity to establish a significant position in an area of growing strategic importance for both Europe and the global semiconductor industry.”
Greg Schmergel, Senior Advisor at FMC, summarized: “FMC combines differentiated technology, strong intellectual property, and a clear vision for commercialization. The company is well on its way to becoming a key European innovator in the memory sector—at a time when memory is becoming one of the defining challenges of the AI era. I am convinced that FMC can help close a critical gap in the European semiconductor landscape while making a significant contribution to the future of global computing infrastructure.”
Together, these appointments strengthen FMC’s ability to scale its technology, industrialize production, and advance its long-term goal of building a globally relevant memory company based in Europe.
