European Commission: EU Commission announces six new AI factories

October 10, 2025. The European Commission has announced a comprehensive expansion of the European AI infrastructure: Six new AI factories and AI factory antennas are to be built in Europe. This brings the total number of AI factories in 16 Member States to 19. The new AI factories will be established in the Czech Republic, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Poland. They will provide start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and industry with direct access to AI-optimized supercomputers, technical expertise and tailored support for the development and deployment of advanced AI solutions.

Third wave of AI factories

This third wave of AI factories, supported by over €380 million of joint EU and Member State investment, will expand Europe’s high-performance computing capacity and accelerate the deployment of AI in key sectors. In total, the EU and participating EuroHPC countries have committed more than €2.7 billion to the AI Factories and Antennas initiative to make Europe a leading AI continent.

Factory antennas in seven Member States

At the same time, factory antennas have been selected in seven Member States: Belgium, Cyprus, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Malta and Slovakia. These antennas will work closely with AI factories to provide national AI communities with secure remote access to world-class AI-optimized high-performance computing capabilities. The network, fully integrated into the EuroHPC ecosystem, will expand access to AI talent, resources and innovation across Europe.

This supports the Action Plan for the AI Continent and complements the EU’s investment in future AI Gigafactories, large-scale facilities for the development and training of advanced AI models and frontier systems, while aligning with the AI Application Strategy to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence across the European economy and public sector.
