Production processes are becoming more complex. They require precise planning and optimization. The digital twin is an essential tool that connects the real and virtual worlds. It enables not only the simulation of individual machines, but also entire production lines and production environments under realistic conditions. In conjunction with the VIBN, errors can be identified at an early stage, commissioning times can be shortened and process optimization can be achieved.
Extended scope for virtual commissioning
The cooperation between DUALIS and EDAG aims to provide extended support for virtual commissioning. The collaboration combines DUALIS’ expertise in the field of simulation and planning software with EDAG’s know-how in the planning and implementation of flexible production systems.
The 3D simulation software Visual Components distributed by DUALIS makes it possible to map production environments realistically. Companies can use it to create digital twins of their production systems, simulate processes and carry out optimizations. The software offers an intuitive platform for virtually testing and adapting production processes.
EDAG brings an extension to the partnership with the ISILOG solution, which enables the connection of commercially available controllers and co-simulators. The use of open FMI/FMU standards ensures a high degree of flexibility and interoperability of the systems. This facilitates the implementation of end-to-end virtual commissioning and ensures improved planning and process reliability.
Holistic approach for the entire life cycle
The cooperation between DUALIS and EDAG views the digital twin as an integral part of the entire life cycle of a production plant – from planning and implementation through to operation. By bundling technical solutions and expertise, the partners support companies in optimally designing and continuously optimizing the entire life cycle of their production systems.
“Together, we offer companies a complete package of software tools and services to make virtual commissioning even easier and faster,” explains Ralf Dohndorf, Vice President Factory Simulation at DUALIS.
A particular focus here is on the flexibility and adaptability of the solutions. “Companies can either learn how to create and use the Digital Twin themselves or, if required, through training, or outsource the entire implementation to DUALIS and EDAG. This ensures that even companies with limited internal resources can benefit from the advantages of virtual commissioning,” says Ralf Dohndorf.
