Innovative model with rarity value
The tandem professorship is an unusual cooperation model that is rarely found in this form. The concept provides for academic research and industrial application to be systematically interlinked.
In Prof. Dr. Jennifer Hannig, the right person has been found to take on this topic, which is highly relevant for science and industry. At the THM Campus Friedberg, she teaches on the Business Informatics course and heads a junior research group funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). Her research focuses on the transparent interpretation of AI-based decisions based on time series data.
Added value for customers through practical AI
She brings this expertise directly to product development at Bender, where she uses artificial intelligence to further develop existing solutions and design new technologies. Because at Bender, AI is not just for office applications – the leading provider of electrical safety is much more concerned with making systems in all industries intelligent and safer. By recognizing potential early on and turning it into marketable innovations, the company creates real added value for its customers and partners.
“I am fascinated by developing innovative AI solutions for a wide range of applications – from cardiology to smart homes. Bender’s products offer many exciting parallels here. I am delighted to combine academic research and industrial practice so that they can benefit from each other in the long term,” explains Prof. Dr. Jennifer Hannig.
Strengthening the Hessian AI ecosystem
Prof. Dr. Jennifer Hannig’s tandem professorship is part of the hessian.AI initiative and strengthens the close cooperation between Bender and THM. Together with the Research Center for Artificial Intelligence in Hesse, they are making an important contribution to practical AI research. The aim of hessian.AI is to drive forward cutting-edge research and develop practical solutions for current challenges – and to transfer this knowledge to business and society so that everyone can benefit from it.
Roman Schmattloch, Head of University Cooperation at Bender, says: “A tandem professorship is something special – and an honor for a company like Bender. It opens up new avenues for organizational development and keeps us at the cutting edge of research. I am delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Hannig to the team.”
