BASF: Opening of a global digital hub in Hyderabad, India

January 28, 2026. BASF plans to open a global Digital Hub in Hyderabad in the first quarter of 2026, sharpening its existing global network of Digital Hubs in Europe (Ludwigshafen and Madrid) and Asia Pacific (Kuala Lumpur). Digital Hubs are centers from which standardized digital services are delivered on a large scale to BASF businesses worldwide. The Digital Hub in Hyderabad bundles competencies in a cost-effective location and enables services to be provided faster and more efficiently. This strengthens BASF’s global digital footprint.

“With this next step in optimizing BASF’s service organization, we are securing digital services at competitive conditions,” said Dr. Dirk Elvermann, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Digital Officer of BASF SE. “Hyderabad offers all the prerequisites for a state-of-the-art digital hub with a global focus. Seamless collaboration between this new digital hub in India and our existing global digital hubs and outstanding service delivery to our businesses is a top priority.”

Another building block to reduce complexity and costs is to standardize the digital portfolio more and focus on topics that create the most value for BASF’s core businesses. This development will be accompanied by structural changes. Overall, BASF’s Global Digital Services division is pursuing the goal of significantly reducing its global workforce by 2030. This also affects jobs in Ludwigshafen. There are also plans to reduce the number of sites where Global Digital Services employees work. All measures will be implemented in a socially responsible manner and in compliance with existing co-determination rights.

Preparations are underway for the opening of the Digital Hub in Hyderabad. The recruitment and operation of the new Indian company “BASF Digital Solutions Private Limited” will start immediately. “I am delighted that we are able to put the hub into operation so quickly and ramp it up sustainably,” said Dietrich Spandau, President Global Digital Services. “Our goal is to create an attractive workplace for high-performing global teams where the BASF Winning Culture is lived.”

“The Digital Hub in Hyderabad will be part of BASF’s long-standing and successful presence in India, consisting of production and research & development activities in the country. It will help BASF to work faster and more efficiently and focus on what creates the most value,” said Alexander Gerding, Head of BASF Group Companies in India.
