AI-powered maintenance co-pilot reduces downtime and relieves service teams

WAKU Robotics introduces the Intelligent Maintenance Agent (IMA), a new AI-powered solution for industrial maintenance.
The assistant enhances WAKU Care with a context-aware co-pilot for service and maintenance teams. IMA supports technicians directly in their workflow – hands-free, data-driven, and knowledge-based. By doing so, it tackles key industry challenges such as increasing system complexity and skilled labor shortages. Leveraging maintenance data, documentation, and real-time insights, IMA delivers the right information at the right moment. Voice-based interaction enables efficient work even in demanding environments. Companies benefit from faster repairs, improved documentation, and better knowledge retention. Fully integrated into WAKU Care, IMA is now available with a 14-day free trial.

Radeberg, March 26, 2026. WAKU Robotics GmbH, a provider of intelligent software solutions for the maintenance and service of machines and mobile robotic systems, today announced the official launch of the Intelligent Maintenance Agent (IMA). The new AI-powered maintenance assistant expands the WAKU Care platform with an intelligent, context-aware co-pilot for service and maintenance teams.

IMA supports technicians directly within the maintenance process: hands-free, knowledge-driven, and data-powered. It addresses one of the industry’s biggest challenges: increasing system complexity combined with a shortage of skilled workers.

(Artificial) intelligence where maintenance happens

The Intelligent Maintenance Agent was specifically developed for use in industrial maintenance environments. Unlike traditional CMMS systems or chatbots, IMA operates contextually within ongoing maintenance and service processes.

The AI agent accesses maintenance histories, technical documentation, SOPs, previous service tickets, as well as asset and machine data, providing exactly the information needed at each specific step of the workflow.

“Maintenance teams lose valuable time every day searching, documenting, and asking follow-up questions. With IMA, we bring AI exactly where it creates real value: directly into the maintenance workflow,” says Victor Splittgerber, Managing Director of WAKU Robotics GmbH.

Hands-free assistance for technicians on site

A key feature of IMA is its voice-based, hands-free interaction: technicians can retrieve instructions, run through checklists, ask questions, and document maintenance steps directly while working.

IMA acts like a “digital and intelligent wrench”, guiding users through repairs, identifying missing steps, and automatically documenting processes.

Especially in noisy, safety-critical, or time-sensitive environments, this reduces media disruptions and significantly accelerates repair processes.

Less downtime, higher quality, sustainable knowledge transfer

By combining AI assistance, automated documentation, and knowledge management, IMA addresses several key maintenance challenges:

  • Reduced Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) through faster diagnostics and guidance
  • Higher first-time fix rates through context-based solution recommendations
  • Improved documentation quality without additional effort
  • Retention of expert knowledge, even during staff turnover

IMA continuously learns from completed maintenance cases and makes implicit knowledge accessible across the entire organization.

Seamlessly integrated into WAKU Care

The Intelligent Maintenance Agent is fully integrated into WAKU Care, WAKU Robotics’ maintenance and asset management platform, enabling companies to benefit from a seamless, end-to-end solution.

As an integral part of WAKU Care, IMA connects maintenance and service processes with asset and spare parts management as well as IoT and condition data—enhanced with AI-powered assistance features.

IMA is not a standalone tool but a core component of a digital, scalable maintenance ecosystem.

Addressing labor shortages and increasing system complexity

With the launch of IMA, WAKU Robotics responds to two of the biggest trends in the industry:

  1. Increasing automation and complexity of systems, especially in mobile robotics
  2. An acute shortage of qualified maintenance professionals

IMA lowers the entry barrier for new technicians, standardizes processes, and supports experienced professionals without adding administrative overhead.

Availability

The Intelligent Maintenance Agent is now available for WAKU Care customers. Interested users can test IMA free of charge for 14 days.

The offering is primarily aimed at operations managers, maintenance professionals, and service technicians.
