About this member

Founded in 1999, we now represent more than 2,200 member companies - including around 1,000 high-performance SMEs, over 500 innovative tech start-ups, half of the Dax40 companies and many other global players.

Our members offer software and IT services, telecommunications or internet services, manufacture devices and components, are active in the digital media or network industries or are part of the digital economy in other ways. In addition, more and more companies across all sectors that currently want to further develop their established business models digitally are joining Bitkom.

Bitkom's overarching goal is to make Germany a leading digital location, drive forward the digital transformation of the German economy and administration, strengthen digital sovereignty and achieve broad social participation in digital developments.

Our efforts are focused on accelerating the expansion of gigabit networks and digital infrastructures for energy and transport, for retail and smart homes, for cities and regions. It is about the political flanking of data-driven business models, protection and security, platform models, disruptive technologies and Work 4.0. And it is about education for the digital world: in schools, universities and - increasingly important - new forms of lifelong learning.
