BMWK: Funding of innovative green tech projects with 75 million euros

October 19, 2023. On October 19 the GreenTech Innovation Competition kicked off at the Forum Digitale Technologien in Berlin. The 21 funded projects of the technology program impressively illustrate that digital technologies can be an important key to the sustainable and digital transformation of the economy.

Strengthening Germany as a high-tech location with green technologies

The aim of the technology program is to strengthen Germany and Europe as high-tech locations for digital technologies and business models based on them. The development and application of innovative digital technologies is intended to increase the competitiveness of German and European companies, especially SMEs, particularly in the growth markets of green technologies, and to contribute to the achievement of German and European climate and environmental protection goals.

Dr. Franziska Brantner, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Economics and Climate Protection: “The ‘green markets’ have enormous growth potential worldwide, and German companies, especially SMEs, can secure a strong market position here. With the GreenTech Innovation Competition, we want to strengthen the innovation potential in the field of digital environmental technology. The funded projects provide important impetus for the digital and sustainable transformation of the economy.”

Inaugural event with lectures, workshops and interactive showroom

At the event, visitors were able to get to know the projects and find interfaces to their own specialist topics. The program offered lectures, panel discussions and workshops on current issues surrounding digital technologies, such as the role of digitization in the green transformation. An interactive exhibition in the showroom of the Digital Technologies Forum presented visitors with current developments in the field of digital technologies.

For the total of 21 research projects participating in the GreenTech Innovation Competition, the BMWK is providing funding of around 75 million. Euro.
