The company started out over 20 years ago with the production of customer-specific ultra-pure media supply systems, particularly for the semiconductor, pharmaceutical and solar industries. “As a medium-sized company, we have focused on innovation, flexibility and proximity to our customers right from the start. These qualities have earned us an excellent reputation not only in Germany, but soon also worldwide,” summarized Dr. Jörg Koch, Managing Director of the company, at the start of the ceremony.
The expansion is the company’s response to the increasing demand from the semiconductor and other high-tech industries in Dresden and the region. SEMPA has been working successfully with some of the chip manufacturers already based here for many years, and such partnerships are now to be extended to include new companies. “With the new 1600 m2 production hall and the associated infrastructure, we can expand our system technology production and introduce technological innovations. This means that larger projects can be realized in a shorter time,” adds the physicist with a doctorate.
The company is not only aiming to expand in the region, but also wants to grow in Germany and worldwide. In recent years, branches have been opened in Thuringia and southern Germany in order to improve service for local customers and attract qualified local specialists. The takeover by the globally active, multidisciplinary Meptagon Group in 2021 marked the start of a new chapter in the international growth strategy.
New jobs in focus
In recent years, the number of employees has more than doubled to 180. Further growth of a similar size is planned. The company is looking for specialists from all areas, especially for assembly and project management. “It is important to us that our employees not only have a modern and family-friendly workplace, but also that we maintain the excellent working atmosphere despite growth,” emphasizes Koch. For example, the new building includes spacious social rooms and a terrace in a green setting where employees can meet and relax. The planned training rooms show how important it is to the company that experienced specialists pass on their knowledge to new employees.
SEMPA focuses on sustainability and modern energy concepts
SEMPA is relying on sustainable materials and a modern, long-term energy concept for the construction of the new project. At the heart of this concept are heat pumps in combination with a photovoltaic system. The solar energy generated is used proportionally to cover the building’s own energy requirements, while the surplus electricity is fed into the Saxony energy grid. In addition, part of the roof area will be greened. To promote electromobility, 30 of the total of 90 parking spaces on the company premises will be set up as charging stations for electric cars.
A particular highlight of the project is the supporting structure, which already consists of around 93% recycled steel. This enables a sustainable, lean construction and significantly shortens the construction time.
In order to ensure that the inauguration can take place as planned in the summer of next year, GOLDBECK Ost GmbH is coordinating and implementing the entire construction project as general contractor.
