In concrete terms, the aim was to expand existing research collaborations and develop DFG, EU and ERASMUS cooperation projects.<\/p>\n
The Israeli scientists represent BIU’s strengths in the fields of molecular microbiology, biochemistry\/biophysics, advanced materials, nanotechnology, photonics, neurotechnology, microelectronics, quantum technologies, in semiconductor-related areas and in complementary interdisciplinary fields.<\/p>\n
On February 3, Prof. Dr.-.Michael H\u00fcbner, full-time Vice President for Research and Transfer at BTU, welcomed the Israeli guests to the Senate Hall at the Cottbus Central Campus. Presentations and a round of talks with BTU scientists from Faculties 1 – STEM – Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, 2 – Environment and Natural Sciences and 3 – Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Energy Systems kicked off the joint program. This included talks with researchers from Faculties 2 and 3, further presentations and laboratory visits on February 4. On February 5, the Israeli guests traveled to Dresden for talks at the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS.<\/p>\n
For more than 15 years, BTU Vice President Prof. Michael H\u00fcbner has maintained contacts with Bar-Ilan University and in particular with Prof. Alexander Fish, who is a member of the delegation. Together with Prof. Ehud Banin from Bar-Ilan University, Prof. H\u00fcbner designed the visit programme, with the organizational preparation being the responsibility of Christiane H\u00fcbner from the Office of the Vice Presidents on the BTU side and Daniel Schuval on the BIU side.<\/p>\n
Bar-Ilan University is Israel’s second largest research university and the fastest growing university in the last eight years. The university has ten faculties: Engineering, Humanities, Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Exact Sciences, Law, Education, Jewish Studies (the largest of its kind in the world), Medicine and the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies.
