Infineon is pursuing a comprehensive and ambitious decarbonization strategy. The company is making good progress towards its 2020 goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2030; since then, emissions have been reduced by more than two thirds while revenue has almost doubled. Infineon is also intensifying its collaboration with the entire supply chain. As a pioneer in the industry, the company has been reporting emissions at individual product level, the so-called product carbon footprint, since this year. The data is already available for every second Infineon product.<\/p>\n
In addition, Infineon’s semiconductors play a key role in ensuring that energy is generated, transmitted, stored and used more efficiently. The latest example of sustainable product innovation from Infineon is a new type of silicon carbide (SIC) energy-saving module, whose developers were nominated for the German Future Prize 2024. The module increases the energy efficiency of existing high-performance electrical applications such as solar and wind power plants. In addition, the technology enables the efficient electrification of large drives, for example in agricultural and construction machinery, ships and trains. Specifically, a single electric locomotive with the new drive system saves around 300 megawatt hours per year, which corresponds to the annual energy requirements of 100 single-family homes. <\/p>\n
The German Sustainability Award is Europe’s largest award for ecological and social commitment. The jury of the German Sustainability Award (DNP) selected the winners from around 2000 different companies. Companies in 100 different sectors are honored. The Sustainability Award works together with the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), WWF Germany, PwC Germany, Leuphana University L\u00fcneburg (CSM L\u00fcneburg) and numerous industry associations, among others, to design and implement the competition.<\/p>\n

With its products and solutions, Infineon is driving decarbonization and digitalization. The company has around 58,060 employees worldwide (end of September 2024) and generated sales of around 15 billion euros in the 2024 financial year (end of September).<\/p>\n
